26th September to 19th October 2008
Welcome to DRIFT 08, London's first annual art exhibition on the Thames.
This Autumn, Illuminate Productions will be curating the installation of more than a dozen exhibits in the river and along its banks between Blackfriars Bridge and Tower Bridge.
They include the recreation of Blackfriars Railway Bridge through laser light, a capsizing yacht that just won't stop sailing, mythical creatures swimming in the river at twilight, and a bankside tower covered with magical red flowers that fall down its face, and bloom and decay throughout the course of the day.
Major international and emerging artists have been confirmed.
Illuminate Productions is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to bring contemporary art out of the galleries and into the mainstream for public enjoyment. It challenges major international and emerging artists to work in groundbreaking contexts within publicly accessible environments. Educational programmes run alongside exhibitions to provide the public with a unique opportunity to become involved in, not only exploring contemporary art and culture, but also creating their own exciting artworks. They are designed to appeal to a diverse range of people from children and teenagers to parents and pensioners.
