The exhibition has now finished, three of the works will reamin exhibited until 2nd November, these are Andy Harper's, 'Feast of Skulls' at Bankside Pier, Margaret Evangeline's, 'Saved from Drowning' at Millennium Bridge and Julien Berthier's, 'Love - Love' at Canary Wharf.

 

DRIFT 08 is a series of strategically placed artworks in and alongside the River Thames in the heart of central London. It will transform and enrich a vast section of the river from Blackfriars Bridge to Tower Bridge. Its prime public location means the artwork will be accessible to all sections of the community and the millions of visitors to the area.

 

 

The exhibition route is next to many major transport links:

Train: London Bridge, Cannon Street, Blackfriars.

Tube: London Bridge, Monument, Tower Hill, Southwark

Buses: Many Routes available.

A unique and original series of artworks will be showcased. High profile international artists will exhibit alongside emerging talent. The artists' selection process has included an international open submission opportunity for emerging artists.

 

Innovation and Excellence

Each site-specific, commissioned piece will demonstrate the highest level of technical excellence and innovation in its field, involving technicians, engineers, specialists, architects and designers.

 

Olympic Event

DRIFT 08 will coincide with the Cultural Olympiad open weekend.

The exhibition's location will extend annually along the river towards the Olympic site for 2012, contributing to the regeneration of many areas.

DRIFT 08 will also be used as a rollout for other 'river cities' in the UK and worldwide.

 

Cultural Development

Many people visit London for its dynamic and contemporary cultural diversity. DRIFT 08 will provide a unique and exciting platform to enhance the city's already vibrant art scene.

The event will also generate a dramatic visual landscape on one of the most famous river ways in the world.
