SERVICES

We love a challenge – we curate and produce interactive exhibitions, art installations, experiences and live events in unusual locations, to engage universal audiences.

Whether it’s a large-scale artwork with direct public interaction or an exclusive, intimate experience, we offer our extensive knowledge of production from conception to completion. From creative direction, location finding, permissions and licensing to bringing together partnerships and communities, we offer our logistical and technical know-how to bring a project to fruition.

Through consultation and project management, we are able to facilitate and collaborate with artists, companies and organisations whose goals dovetail with our expertise. We have extensive knowledge of all aspects of curating, commissioning, producing and delivering - unique, inspiring and high-impact artworks, exhibitions and events to engage a diverse new audience.  Much of our work is large-scale, site-responsive, interactive and celebrates the history of people and places.

We have successfully produced and installed many ambitious installations for the public realm in high footfall public spaces, including on bridges and in water.  We have also worked within restricted sites including listed buildings and temporary buildings in a visionary way. Our projects have required us to work closely with engineers, scientists, trades, sponsors, authorities and local communities to make them happen.

We can provide artistic direction and production management on all aspects of a project: co-ordinating production and installation (including working alongside artists to research and develop ideas and outcomes), selection procedures and panels, brokering collaborations between artists, engineers, authorities and others, location finding, devising funding sources, applying for statutory permissions and licences, drafting risk and method statements, drafting contracts and schedules, advising on ownership and maintenance, organising film and stills documentation and marketing collateral, engaging the media, initiating and delivering rated public workshops, talks and events and evaluating the outcome.

We are able to share our expertise, and manage, produce and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Illuminate Productions do what they say. By producing work that tickles, provokes and pleases in spaces that no-one else can find, they provide a unique and genre-bending addition to the cultural landscape.

Public Art Commissions

Our work aims to push artistic boundaries and transform public space through site-reactive works that engage and excite a universal audience.

We understand the need to create places that people aspire to live and work in, and we believe that art can add real value by defining the character of a place - providing a link to local, historical or cultural attributes and putting the place on the map.  Art can also enhance community engagement and create a sense of belonging.

We produce unique artistic interventions, working with a wide range of collaborators and artists, from permanent and temporary public art commissions, to art integrated within architecture. Past commissioned artworks have enhanced public space, gained critical acclaim, had worldwide media coverage and have inspired local business and residential communities.

We are able to offer artistic direction and a full management service; we research artists specifically for each project and organise every aspect of the commissioning process, from curatorial direction and artist selection, through to project management and installation.

Illuminate Productions commission an amazing array of leading visual, light, sound and performance artists, transforming public space and bringing lost buildings and unusual places to life.

Meanwhile Space

We have extensive experience as meanwhile use operators working alongside developers, landowners and local authorities.  We have built trust through a track record of successful meanwhile occupations, while also engaging communities, supporting the arts and producing renowned and award-winning art installations and events.

There are many positive examples of the effects that meanwhile use has on place-making, including improving safety and creating a sense of community.  Meanwhile use has proven to have great value in today’s cities, from offering opportunities for public engagement, nurturing emerging talent to enhancing perceptions of places.

Much of what residents and tourists love about London is its fringe and its arts and culture - much of which has be conceived, nurtured or trialled in meanwhile spaces.  For inclusive city-making; meanwhile use can provide the space for the next generation of entrepreneurs, artists and activists.

We are able to manage a vital part of a development process, utilising derelict or underused space with minimal risk, while delivering a number of benefits to the communities in which we work.
