An evocative sound and light installation.

29th April - 8th May 2022

56 Brook Street, Mayfair W1K 5NE

Inspired by the therapeutic effects of sound and light frequencies, visitors were taken on an aural trip of relaxation as sonic waves washed over them.

Housed within the former Vidal Sassoon headquarters in Mayfair, Calmer was open for free drop-ins, or available for visitors to book exclusive 15 minute sessions.

This visceral sound and light installation combined ancient mythology with technology, introducing us to resonant frequencies that are known to revitalise humans. Light and sound are important to our health and how we relate to the world.

Participants were placed in a multi-sensory cocoon, which aimed to positively raise our state of feeling and bring good vibes to all.

Late night opening and Live music event

Friday 6th May 7-10pm

To coincide with Calmer and James McArthur & the Head Gardeners fourth Album; Keep it Clean, the band played an exclusive live event. The intimate and ephemeral live show enabled the audience to see the band up close and personal, whilst also experiencing the therapeutic properties of light. McArthur always retains his connection to the natural world and his relationship with the environment, integrating nature and nurture. McArthur’s music invites the listener to unite, connect with each other and to consider our place in the world.

Strong and beautifully articulated, sometimes evoking the feel of Nick Drake’s Pink Moon.”

“Bucolic melodies, intricate acoustic guitar-picking and lazy, dusty vocals...a British answer to Iron and Wine's Sam Beam.”
